The "Equine" Girl =]

You think fairy tales are only for girls? Here’s a hint - ask yourself who wrote them. I assure you, it wasn’t just the women. It’s the great male fantasy - all it takes is one dance to know that she’s the one. All it takes is the sound of her song from the tower, or a look at her sleeping face. And right away you know - this is the girl in your head, sleeping or dancing or singing in front of you. Yes, girls want their princes, but boys want their princesses just as much. And they don’t want a very long courtship. They want to know immediately.

- David Levithan and Rachel Cohn.

Last night I tweeted “Why are there no fairy tales with the prince being rescued?” and today I found the answer.

Tuesdayy

Its been a long day. Had class this morning, then went to the barn, where there was really no one there. The lesson before me only had one person show up, and my lesson I was the only one who rode- the other girl who came ended up leaving since we had a free ride (LAME), but I got to ride a new horse. He was cool, we had a good ride. Got him to stretch down ward, but couldn’t figure out if he was too low, but oh well, its better than him sticking his nose straight out in the air.

Also then dropped off my boyfriend at the airport =[ , he’s home for 2 1/2 weeks. this is officially the longest we’ve been apart. Its going to be weird, and jealous since its warm in Cali. Also gave him his xmas gifts, which he’s waiting till xmas to open. have to wait for mine to come. he told me i can either take it when it comes or wait till he gets back on the 8th for him to wrap it… eh its coming home with me to wait till xmas to open.

As for everything else… that pretty much it. New job is going alright, my body is slowly becoming more adjusted to barn work, wasn’t as sore this week as I was after work last week. Got to ride Sunday too, getting an official lesson on Saturday so we’ll see how it goes. Only obstacle is getting this horse bridled, he’s a pain in the butt. He throws his head in the air and refuses to let you put it on. Theres supposedly a trick to it so imma have to figure it out very soon.

equestrians are taught many skills. we are taught to act in the moment, to plan ahead. we are taught to think out every small piece of a plan, to be proactive instead of reactive. we are taught to be strong, powerful and dedicated. we are taught to pick out every single detail, to be perfectionists. we are taught to blame ourselves and not our horse. we are taught to want more, to want success. we are taught a lot, including the fact that we have to be hard on ourselves. it’s a great sport, but it comes with a price.

– definitely true.
